Mistress of Stitch Embroidery Kits

Picture
Work in progress... Hoopoe design

If you can't make it to one of my classes, then why not try one of my bespoke designed Embroidery Kits?

I currently have a range of 3 Crewelwork designs available that I developed from the Jacobean Rainbow project that I made for my students in Summer 2017.  My students loved it so much, I thought you would too!

Purchase at my Etsy Shop: #MistressOfStitchShop

Jacobean Rainbow - Yellow, Owl
Inspired by Jacobean Crewel work and 17th Century Pattern books held at the Victoria and Albert Museum, this design features an Owl, Indian Flower & a gorgeous bunch of grapes as well as a tiny snail and smaller flowers. Jacobean Crewel work was inspired by Indian painted textiles imported by the East India Company back in the 17th Century. This design includes an Owl and bunch of Grapes both of which feature in Greek mythologies, and are full of rich symbolism.

Jacobean Rainbow - Violet, Hoopoe

This design features a Hoopoe, Pomegranate and Fuchsia as well as butterflies and smaller flowers. Hoopoes are an African Bird that occasionally get blown off course and end up in Cornwall, where I was born! They are such a fancy, exotic looking bird, I couldn't resist including one in the design! The Pomegranate and Fuchsia are both classic Jacobean motifs and utilise iconic Jacobean stitches - Trellis and Soft Shading (Long & Short Stitch)

Jacobean Rainbow - Blue, Peacock

Inspired by Jacobean Crewel work and 17th Century Pattern books held at the Victoria and Albert Museum, this design features a Peacock, Lotus Flower and Dragonfly as well as a tiny bug and smaller flowers. Jacobean Crewel work was inspired by Indian painted textiles imported by the East India Company back in the 17th Century. This design includes a Peacock and Lotus both of which feature in Indian mythologies, and are full of rich symbolism.

Each kit contains linen fabric printed with the design (so no need for tracing!), 10 shades of Appletons Crewel wool, and instructions including stitch diagrams.  Extra tutorials are available on my blog and new ones are being added all the time!

The kits are aimed at patient beginners and more experienced stitchers. There are about 20 different stitches to try so you can use them as a sampler too.
