Exhibtion 2019 - The Owl & The Pussycat

In November 2019, Mistress of Stitch students set sail to the Barony Centre in West Kilbride, with a beautifully hand stitched illustration of Edward Lear's poem "The Owl & The Pussycat" worked across 11 panels. Each student worked their own panel, adding embellishments to my original designs. When displayed together the boat flows along the waves illustrating key parts of the poem. The panels combined Crazy Quilting (Crazy Patchwork) with embroidered stitch embellishments, in beautifully layered, multi-textured pieces. Most of the students were new to Embroidery at the start of the year, and they did an amazing job creating the panels for this exhibition. Each person worked closely with the person stitching the panels either side of theirs, to create harmony and balance across the whole series of panels. |
